Frequently Asked Questions
The LittleBig starts as a little balance bike for kids age two or over. Unlike most balance bikes, as your child grows, the unique frame can grow too! The LittleBig is different to normal balance bikes as pedals can be fitted, converting it into a proper pedal bike. For more information about balance bikes and how they work, check out this article.
We sell the balance bike and pedals separately so customers can choose to purchase the balance by itself if preferred. It’s handy to purchase the pedals and have them ready in case your little wants to try pedalling. Sometimes things just click with kids confidence and balancing skills and you might want to strike while the iron is hot and try the pedals ASAP rather than waiting for us to send them to you. You also save the cost of posting the pedals separately.
We would not recommend using stabilisers while your child is learning to pedal. Having started on a balance bike, your child should now be comfortable gliding along independently, so the transition to pedalling will be easy. Putting stabilisers onto the LittleBig bike would be a backwards step as your child would become used their support, undoing all the good work.  You can read more information on our post balance bikes vs stabilisers.
Customers outside the EU will not be charged VAT on our website, however you will be responsible for paying your own countries import duty and taxes. This applies to UK customers since 1st January 2021. The delivery costs shown below do not form part of the VAT and duty payment, they are specifically for delivering the package to the destination. The LittleBig pink balance bike is the perfect bike for kids age 2+. The award-winning convertible design means you can fit a separate pedal attachment, so there’s no urgent need to change bikes once your child can cycle independently.

No need for stabilisers, the LittleBig balance bike gives your little one the freedom to explore.

Designed and assembled in Ireland, the LittleBig features a beautifully crafted aluminium frame and high quality parts like on a proper big bike, only little.

Our grand-daughter, aged 3, just loves anything PINK,so that’s the colour we chose when buying her a LittleBig Bike.Needless to say she absolutely LOVES it, and so do we. The quality of the components is first-class, and the finish is superb: polished aluminium, metallic paint, proper high quality brakes and wheels – just like on a bigger bike.
We were really impressed and couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

We took our LittleBigBike out today for the first time and I don’t know had had more fun me or my 4 year old daughter. Her first comment was that it was so easy to turn and use (compared to her previous bike), not surprising since the Aluminium used for the frame is the same that is used in my $3000 racing bike! Her mother loved it to as it is half the weight and is so easy to carry into the house. Well maybe it was her second comment as they both loved the shiny pink/silver colours. Thanks so much I got lot’s of brownie points from 2 happy women!

I was looking for a bike for my daughter who has Dyspraxia and was struggling with heavy bikes and with pedals. She is in love with it… she loves the colour of it and is able to handle it really well. The lightwieght bike is perfect as it is stylish in appearance and colour scheme, strong, well designed and built. The versatility of it in terms of being able to be bigger than most balance bikes and combine with or without pedals is great. Colour – size – weight- quality all first class. The bike is easily assembled and comes with the tools to do it along with instructions (if needed) The customer service for communications on delivery etc has been great and something that other companies should aspire to.. very happy daddy and daughter … Thanks to Simon and LittleBig Bikes.

The paintwork on the Sparkle Pink bike I got for my 5-yr old little girl is just beautiful and high quality – you’ll see its brilliance when bringing it out, and for me, especially during the setting sun. Critically, almost every feature of the bike seemed to be carefully designed to ergonomically fit a growing child (height, reach, grip size, brake levers, frame curvature etc.). By design, I just can’t see find any fault that I have found on other child bikes I’ve been shopping around for previously. Its just right in every way. I feel this is the key to how my little girl has naturally jumped on and got on with “balancing” and “steering” and “braking” and ringing the bell – as if it’s been her bike for years! It’s just been a couple of days so we’ve not got to the point of pedaling though I don’t see that being far off.

What may be of further thrill for kids is to have detachable little footholds that can be secured at the bottom end (either side, whether bike is flipped or not) of the seatpost – so that they can lift up and rest their legs and glide for an added way of enjoying the bike. This can be made an optional accessory :)

I found Little Big Bike through an RTE program on new inventions/products. I have ordered two, for each of my grandkids. Ordering was easy through their site. Both were shipped to the States and arrived perfect. Bike was nearly complete on assembly and only took a few min. to finish. Included tools made assembly very simple. Bikes are for Christmas so there actual use will be happening after Santa arrives. Bike is built to some the the best standard I have ever seen. I found the design very interesting and innovated Will be recommending to friends where to buy them. Could not recommend more than I feel.

We’ve ordered pink bike for our 3 year old daughter.
Straight away after opening the box we just knew that this bike is built from best quality materials, which was so important to us and is just beautiful with every single detail (from colour to leather seat).
The best lite bike I’ve ever seen.
Our little one had real fun trying to ride on it for the very first time.
We couldn’t be more happy with our choice and service is 10 out of 10.

I did a lot of research before buying this bike, as I wanted something that would be excellent quality, and be appropriate for my 4YO daughter for a number of years. This bike ticks all the boxes. Excellent quality and my daughter LOVES the sparkly pink finish (although maybe consider purple as a future option?).

Customer service is also exceptional, with LBB going above and beyond to ensure our bike arrived in time for my daughter’s birthday,

    First class, all round.

I had been looking for a bike for my 2 year old and wasn’t sure whether to go for a balance bike or a bike with stabilisers. When I came across Little Big Bike it seemed like the perfect answer. I know it’s a little expensive but figured if it lasts until she’s 6 or 7 then it’s worth it. The communication throughout order to delivery has been excellent. The day the bike arrived I couldn’t wait for my daughter to see it. It really is beautiful and she loves it. We went straight out for a go and my daughter took to it amazing. First time on a bike and she was able to steer and push it along whilst walking over the frame (which is how children start on a balance bike). The quality is so impressive. Light weight and well made. We love it! Thank you Little Big Bikes!

I got this bike for my daughter so she could have a balance bike with real brakes. Having large hills on our street, this was sorely needed. My only regret is I wish I would’ve gotten it sooner! It instantly renewed her excitement for riding and everyday she asks to go out on her bike. She’s done so well I’ve ordered the small seat post so I can get the pedal attachment on (she’s too short to use the regular seat post with the pedals). Thanks LittleBigBikes for your amazing product!

We were absolutely stunned when after only 15 minutes of practice, she was confidently riding without any support!

Her success is a great advert for the lightweight nature and toddler-friendly handling of your bikes. I think she was also emboldened to know that she had the option of going to balance bike mode if she didn’t initially take to the pedals. She has had a balance bike for a couple of years now, so this helped familiarise her with her new bike. With any other new bike, she would have wanted the comfort blanket of stabilisers, but the balance bike option allowed us to avoid that. In the end she needed neither, but it really helped her confidence to have the option.

The best balance / pedal bike
    My daughter absolutely loves it
She was using the balance bike for first few months and in October last year I decided to convert it to pedal bike .
Conversion was easy and she after few attempts off she went!
    She still loves it !
