LittleBig FAQs: benefits, sizing, setup, delivery
The LittleBig starts in balance mode for kids aged 2+, then adapts as they grow.
Unlike most kids bikes, the frame geometry adjusts so the same bike fits for longer.
When your child is ready, you can add the optional pedal kit to convert it into a proper pedal bike.
Starting on a balance bike helps children develop balance, coordination and steering before introducing pedals. By focusing on one skill at a time, many children transition to pedalling more confidently and with fewer frustrations.
The LittleBig supports this development by offering lightweight handling, adjustable geometry and long-term usability.
To understand how balance bikes compare to other early riding options, read our balance bike guide for parents.
No. The LittleBig is designed to cover three stages in one frame:
- Little Balance mode
- Big Balance mode
- Big Pedal mode (with the optional pedal kit)
As it changes from little to big mode the reach gets longer and the frame gets taller.
In addition to these frame adjustments, the saddle, handlebars and stem are similar to what you’d find on an adult’s bike so can be independently adjusted to further fine tune the bike’s fit. More sizing information can be found on our sizing guide.
There is not enough ground clearance in the little balance bike mode to add pedals, but the saddle height on our new LittleBig is super low at only 40cm, even in the big mode. Check our sizing guide for more info.
The LittleBig is designed for children from around age 2, with the option to progress to pedalling around 4 or 5 depending on height, confidence and coordination. Some children begin pedalling as early as 3 1/2, while others are happy riding in balance mode at 5.

Yes. The LittleBig is designed for straightforward home assembly and typically takes around 15 to 20 minutes.
The bike arrives mostly assembled. You simply attach the handlebars, front wheel and saddle, then check that everything is aligned and tightened correctly. Clear step by step instructions are included.
If you would like to see the full process before ordering, you can view our assembly guide and videos.
We would not recommend using stabilisers (aka training wheels) while your child is learning to pedal. Having started on a balance bike, your child will be comfortable gliding along independently, so the transition to pedalling will be easy. Putting stabilisers onto the LittleBig bike would be a backwards step as your child would become used their support (like a crutch), undoing all the good work.
