About Simon Evans

Simon was one half of Revolution Cycle, the two-person team who, in 2010, completed the first Irish circumnavigation of the globe by bicycle. This epic adventure covered 30,000km through some some of the highest, driest, remotest, wettest, and hottest places on earth. It affirmed Simon’s love not only for bicycles, but for the freedom they afford for travel, exploration, fitness and mental health. Simon is also an engineer. His talent for creating elegant, real-world solutions through careful design and detailing led to early roles as a structural consultant. Simon helped develop ultra modern edifices and restore ancient historic buildings. These experiences in sustainable design, allied with his wealth of bicycle knowledge, propelled him to design and develop the LittleBig.
I love bikes!

The Telegraph, the best kids bikes – for children of all ages

The Telegraph Reviews the LittleBig

Worried about constantly replacing your little one’s bike as he or she constantly grows out of it? Not sure you’ll get much resale value or there won’t be a sibling to pass down to? Then the Little Big Bike is the one for you. What makes this bicycle stand out is its three-in-one nature. It starts off as a balance bike for two-year-olds, transforms into a pedal bike for when your child is ready, and then extends as they grow. The innovative system is […]

Balance Bike or Kids Bike with Training Wheels. Which is Best?

balance bike versus kids pedal bike with stabilisers/ training wheels
Like most of you reading this, I learned to ride a pedal bike using training wheels (a.k.a stabilisers). I remember getting my first bike for my 5th birthday and the joy of taking it out on the path while I pedalled along. I also remember the day when my parents took the training wheels off and I wobbled down the road with my dad running behind me, frantically trying to keep me upright.

I hadn’t yet developed the […]

Rascal Rides | Balance Bike & Kids Pedal Bike in One

Rascal Rides Review Website Logo

Imagine a bike that could grow with your child.  Rather than purchasing an expensive balance bike only to buy an expensive pedal bike a few years (or a few months) later, this one bike could do it all. Your child could go from scooting to pedaling all on their single trusty steed.

This is what Simon, a cyclist and engineer from Ireland, imagined and he brought the bike to life.   His brainchild, the LittleBig, is a 3-in-1 bicycle that converts from a little balance […]

The best balance bikes – for children ready to learn the first steps of cycling

The Telegraph Reviews the LittleBig

What we like about the Little Big Bike is its versatility. While it’s more pricey than other balance bikes at over £200, it’s a three-in-one.

What does that mean? Well, it starts off as a balance bike aimed at two-year-olds, and a very good one at that. It then transforms easily into a pedal bike when your kid is ready. As your child grows, so too does the bike, promising to last until the age of seven. That means you should get five years of […]
